This is a story of boy meets reality. The boy, Alec Babala of Los Angeles, California, grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire believing he’d never truly be happy until he was “cool.” This belief stemmed from the early exposure to discrimination in junior high school and a total mis-reading of his filipino heritage. The mom, Olivia Babala of Cabanatuan, Philippines, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of Alec’s tolerance with his parents she’d only found happiness in two things. The first was her baby boy Alec. The second was how she could easily let him go and accept it. Alec left Olivia for college on September 12th. He knew immediately she knows the secret to being happy. This is a story of boy meets reality, but you should know upfront, this is not an underdog story.
